Introduction
Welcome to my blog! I have always been a person who is not content with what I have today and always looking for what I can accomplish to make a brighter tomorrow for myself. This idea has become my obsession since I had my baby boy in February 2011 and wanting to be home with him without having to worry about where the money will come from. Pretty ridiculous idea these days, and so I want to capture my journey of obtaining this "perfect life". My goal is simple, be home to raise my son while still contributing financially.....but the steps to get there seem impossible to me today. I think of myself as being a talented and creative person and my plan is to develop a lifestyle brand, Darcy Bloom.

DB, you are spot-on. This is a little odd, but my blog is to Oprah! One of the problems we as moms face is the Oprah mentality that if we are not doing something we 'absolutely love' all the time and making tons o' dough, we are doing worthless work! When really most of us just want to be a great mom and make some money (if we can) and for the time being, we choose to give up 'our purpose and calling' (Oprah's favorite words). It is not our 'dream' to change crib sheets, watch Caillou on a loop and play f$&ing blocks for hours - Oprah! And no, ask any mom, most of the time we don't love it...but we do it because we so love our kids and want to instill trust, happiness and love in them. Watching Oprah say 'do what you love or you are worthless' (well she didn't say that last part) causes all sorts of depression in women I think (that topic is another blog for another day). Because we choose a path other than dream-chasing to be bored moms doing mindless things for a majority of the day is ok! Even great! And Ms. Winfrey, you are also cutting down all the women that are accountants or administrators of some kind by saying those things - because they don't do what they 'love'...what about the billions of people in this world that are just trying to feed their kids and not catch malaria?? They will never 'find their passion'...whoa, my soap box is from Costco - huge and in a bulk pack of 20!
ReplyDeleteMy point, women - stay at home moms or moms who work, but have chosen a career path that let them spend more time at home - we are the passion, we are the best, we don't need outside praises, we just need the smile on our children's faces (most likely gas though).
You barked up the wrong tree, The Color Purple! I am boycotting the OWN Network (aside from the Gayle King Show)...who is with me!?!?
